This was a spec assignment I submitted for TabTimes for consideration. It was published a few weeks later. The article was an exploration into a then-new concept in the video game industry: crowdfunding.
This wasn’t a player’s review — the focus here was to critique the way in which the game was constructed and developed, and how crowdfunding colored the experience for players. For research, I conducted my own playthrough for this article — I did not rely on reviews or recorded playthroughs published by others. While exploring the game, I compiled notes about how crowd-sourced financing seems to have influenced the experience. Afterward, I assembled the spec article and submitted it for consideration.
