Enough! was a project that explored the failure of our transportation and legal infrastructures to keep cyclists safe on the road. Finalized as a series of 17 stories published both online and in print, it marked the first-ever collaboration of its kind between Bicycling's print and digital teams. It was also the first microsite of its scale that the brand ever produced.

Our team was asked to help produce both unique digital articles and online treatments for existing print articles. I was tasked with designing, writing and hosting the .css, .js, and .html files for the following pages, in addition to mapping the navigation and collaborating with the print team to reformat the graphics and images to accommodate a responsive design:

“VISION ZERO: HOW CLOSE ARE WE?”
“THE STATE OF YOUR SAFETY”
“A DRUNK DRIVER KILLED MY DAD”
“WAITING FOR JUSTICE”
“FROM GRIEF TO ACTION”
“DOES THE PUNISHMENT FIT THE CRIME?”
“THIS CAN'T BE HAPPENING”
“THE LOST LIST”
“THE BRAKE LIGHTS NEVER FLASHED”
“THEY DIDN'T COME BACK”
“THE ILLUMINATING POWER OF GHOST BIKES”
“LEFT FOR DEAD”
“IT'S NO ACCIDENT”
“THE 13 SAFEST CITIES FOR CYCLISTS”
“8 THINGS YOU CAN DO NOW”

I was also asked to collaborate with a third-party contractor to develop, finalize, and host both the “ENOUGH!” landing page and “THE STREETS OF THE FUTURE,” an interactive map depicting what would be possible if cycling safety were prioritized in future cities.

For the editorial work, I was asked to curate images and help direct the coverage for “THE ILLUMINATING POWER OF GHOST BIKES.”

We worked very closely with the print team to create digital assets that have the same look and feel as the print features. Because we wanted the power of each story to be foremost in the online experience, new layouts were created that stripped away ancillary website modules so that readers could focus on the text and images.
